Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Islamabad, Pakistan

Welcome to Pakistan’s breathtaking landscapes! Most international flights land at Islamabad International Airport in the morning. Your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. The day is yours to relax and recover from your journey. Later, we’ll have a group briefing about the K2 Expedition. Time permitting, you can explore Islamabad, a city uniquely designed as Pakistan’s capital in 1961. Discover its modern architecture, lush parks, and vibrant bazaars, offering a unique cultural experience.

Day 2Flight to Skardu (2,230m) or Drive to Chilas (461km)

We’ll take a morning flight to Skardu, offering scenic views of Nanga Parbat and other Karakoram peaks. Upon landing, you’ll be taken to your hotel in Skardu. The afternoon is yours to explore Skardu, known as the gateway to the Himalayas and often referred to as Little Tibet due to its cultural similarities.

Note: Flights are weather-dependent. Skardu Airport, recently upgraded, has a high reliability rate but in case of cancellation, alternative road travel arrangements are in place.

Day 3Sightseeing and Preparation in Skardu

Begin your day hiking to Kharpocho Fort, an 18th-century structure offering panoramic views of Skardu town and the Indus River. Photography enthusiasts will relish the sunrise or sunset views from this vantage point. Next, visit the serene Organic Village and spend the afternoon exploring the bazaars, or opt for a jeep tour to Sadpara Lake.

Day 4Journey to Jhola via Askoli (3,100m) – 8-Hour Drive

After breakfast, set out on an exciting jeep ride following the mighty Indus, Shigar, and Braldu Rivers to reach Askoli, the last village before the untamed wilderness of the Karakoram Range. Here, you’ll meet the porters accompanying you on this adventure. Askoli is a charming settlement with wooden houses, lush fields of corn and potatoes, and apricot orchards.

Following a brief stop, you’ll navigate through Askoli’s picturesque fields and narrow lanes before continuing toward Korofong, a tranquil riverside spot offering the first taste of glacier trekking. Driving further, the trail leads past scenic views of Bakhor Das and the needles of Paiju Peak, finally arriving at Jhola Camp for the night.

Day 5Trek to Paiju (3,380m) – 6-Hour Walk

Your first trekking day begins with porters organizing supplies for the journey ahead. The trail runs along the riverbank before ascending to higher ground, where the stunning Paiju Peak comes into view. Crossing streams fed by melting glaciers, you’ll encounter breathtaking landscapes. Paiju, a lush oasis at the base of the Baltoro Glacier, offers spectacular views of the Trango Towers and, on a clear day, a glimpse of the majestic K2.

Day 6Trek to Khoburtse (3,760m) – 7-Hour Walk

From Paiju, a short walk leads to the Baltoro Glacier’s snout, where meltwater gushes out dramatically. Ascend the rugged glacier trail, which alternates between moraine and glacier paths. The hike rewards you with incredible views of the Cathedral Towers, Trango Group, and Uli Biaho. By day’s end, you’ll reach the Khoburtse campsite, surrounded by soaring granite peaks.

Day 7Trek to Urdukas (4,130m) – 4-Hour Walk

Though short, today’s trek is demanding as you gain elevation over undulating terrain. Walking beside the Baltoro Glacier, you’ll pass the iconic Great Trango Tower and Nameless Tower, arriving at Urdukas Camp. This scenic spot provides awe-inspiring views of the Trango Towers, Cathedral Peak, and Lobsang Spire.

Day 8Acclimatization Day at Urdukas

A rest day at Urdukas is ideal for adjusting to the altitude. Take a leisurely walk through grassy slopes teeming with alpine flowers or simply relax at camp. This acclimatization stop ensures a smoother transition for the challenging climbs ahead.

Day 9Trek to Goro II (4,250m) – 7-Hour Walk

The trail continues east, climbing onto the Baltoro Glacier’s vast expanse. Along the way, marvel at the towering Masherbrum, Muztagh Tower, and Gasherbrum IV. Tonight’s campsite at Goro II sits atop the glacier, offering cooler temperatures and stunning surroundings.

Day 10Trek to Concordia (4,600m) – 5-Hour Walk

The journey to Concordia is truly spectacular. Walking past Mustagh Tower and the breathtaking Gasherbrum peaks, you’ll catch glimpses of Broad Peak and, finally, the magnificent K2. Concordia, the meeting point of glaciers, offers unparalleled views of four 8,000-meter peaks and countless other majestic summits.

Day 11Trek to Broad Peak Base Camp (5,000m) – 4-Hour Walk

Begin your trek early to witness a mesmerizing sunrise over K2. From Concordia, traverse the glacier’s rugged terrain to reach the Broad Peak Base Camp, set against a stunning backdrop of Karakoram giants.

Day 12-52Climbing and Acclimatization Period

Your climbing adventure begins here! Under the guidance of experienced mountaineers, you’ll follow a structured acclimatization and climbing schedule. A dedicated team at base camp ensures you’re well-fed and supported throughout the ascent.

Day 53Return to Khoburtse (3,760m) – 7-Hour Walk

Retrace your steps down the Baltoro Glacier, enjoying a fresh perspective of the landscape. As you descend, the air becomes warmer, and oxygen levels increase, making the journey more comfortable.

Day 54-56Trek Back to Askoli via Jhola and Paiju

Over three days, you’ll trek through familiar trails, each revealing new details and offering moments of reflection. The final stretch to Askoli marks the end of your wilderness adventure. Celebrate with your team and porters before saying heartfelt goodbyes.

Day 57 Drive Back to Skardu via Shigar Valley – 7-Hour Drive

Begin the drive back to Skardu, passing through the dramatic Braldu Gorge and the lush Shigar Valley. Upon arrival, unwind at your hotel with a warm shower and a well-deserved dinner.

Day 58Fly to Islamabad or Drive via Karakoram Highway

If weather permits, take an unforgettable flight from Skardu to Islamabad, with views of Nanga Parbat en route. Alternatively, embark on a scenic two-day drive along the legendary Karakoram Highway, stopping in Chilas or Naran overnight.

Day 59Sightseeing or Contingency Day in Islamabad

If you’ve arrived early, enjoy a free day exploring Islamabad’s vibrant culture, local markets, and landmarks. If traveling by road, this serves as a buffer day for any delays.
